It has already been a year since the Leaders of Africa Institute last solicited applications to the Research Methods Program. Since then, the Institute has welcomed Scholars from Eastern, Western, and Southern Africa to participate in over nine months of study and practice in the area of research methods. Moreover, the program continues to provide research mentorship as many of the Scholars begin conducting their research across many disciplines, including public health, political science, and economic development. If you are interested in participating in this exciting opportunity, please be sure to:

  1. Check your eligibility: Only Africa-based scholars, undergraduate and postgraduate students, practitioners, activists, and mid-career professionals are able to apply. This means you must be presently living in an African country to apply.
  2. Explain the connection between research methods and your goals: You must be able to share how an enhanced research methods experience will help in your research and work-related activities. The Admissions Committee looks for a convincing story as to how your skills will benefit you and your community.
  3. Demonstrate your commitment: Be sure to demonstrate your commitment to your field no matter if it is public health, economic development, international relations, political science, environmental studies, or any other field. The Leaders of Africa Institute prides itself in welcoming Scholars with a burning passion for knowledge and activism. Be sure to share your passion in the statements on the application.

Next week, expect to see more admissions and application advice from the Leaders of Africa Institute team. In the meantime, sign up for our newsletter below and be the first to know when applications open!
