Research Methods Instructor / Lecturer (Remote, Two Positions)

Overview

We are seeking dynamic and experienced professionals to join our institution as Instructors for the Research Methods and Masterclass Program 2024 (May – September 2024) at the Leaders of Africa Institute. The Research Methods Program is a flagship program of the Institute dedicated to advancing the knowledge and application of cutting-edge qualitative and quantitative methods techniques. The program takes place through live distance education. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, mentoring Scholars, and contributing to the ongoing development of the program. This position requires expertise in either OR both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and candidates must hold a master’s degree or Ph.D. The Leaders of Africa Institute is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from all backgrounds and countries to apply. Responsibilities

Course Instruction:
  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and seminars on quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Create and update course materials, ensuring relevance to industry standards and emerging trends.
  • Foster an interactive and participatory learning environment that encourages critical thinking and practical application of research methods.
  • Stay abreast of current developments and trends in quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Participate in Research Methods Program public and private events, including recruitment sessions, workshops, and showcases.
Mentoring and Advising:
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students pursuing the program and their Capstone Projects.
  • Mentor students in the development of their Capstone Projects, including the formulation of research questions, the selection of appropriate methodologies, the creation of research instruments, and the execution of the project
  • Actively engage in our community platform to facilitate collaboration and a support research environment
Curriculum Development:
  • Collaborate with program coordinators and fellow instructors to enhance and update the curriculum.
  • Integrate the latest advancements in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies into course content.
Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Design and administer assessments to measure students’ understanding and application of research methods.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students on their academic performance.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field in the broad areas of international development (e.g., sustainability, public health, social science, etc.) or research methods.
  • Demonstrated expertise in either OR both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred.
  • Prior online or distance learning education experience with a strong working knowledge of Zoom Meeting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the continuous improvement of the program.

Eligibility

The position is open to remote work from any country and does not have a geographical restriction.
