Ann Waithaka

I am a development communication specialist working at the intersection of research, policy, and strategic communication. I currently serve as Senior Communications Officer at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), where I lead and support content development, digital communication, media relations, stakeholder engagement, and communication capacity strengthening.

Previously, I served as Program Communications Officer for the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA), where I led strategic communications, public engagement, and multimedia initiatives, including the redesign of CARTA’s website and support for a scientific conference convening more than 300 researchers, funders, policymakers, and other stakeholders. I also worked in policy engagement and communications at the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP), supporting researchers to translate evidence for regional and international audiences. My work focuses on research translation, communication systems, and storytelling that strengthen the visibility, influence, and uptake of African research. I hold an MA in Communication Studies from the University of Nairobi and a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
