Cynthia Mughogho

I am a Program Manager passionate about international development, sustainable natural resource governance, and equitable development. My work centers on transparency, accountability, and empowering communities to benefit from responsible and just natural resource management.

I hold an MSc in Strategic Management from the University of Derby and a Bachelor of Education Science (Geography & Geology) from the University of Malawi. With over a decade of experience, I have led programs addressing natural resource governance, climate resilience, and economic justice, combining policy engagement, research, and program implementation.

I currently serve as Program Manager at IM Swedish Development Partner, where I coordinate multi-country initiatives that support civil society strengthening, policy advocacy, and sustainable development outcomes. My work includes extensive engagement on corruption risk management in the mining sector, advancing the gender dimensions of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, and supporting reform processes under the Open Government Partnership National Action Plan.

I have contributed to policy reforms in Malawi’s extractive sector, led research on transition minerals and corporate accountability, and secured funding from major donors and foundations. Through research, advocacy, and strategic partnerships, I strive to ensure that natural resource governance systems are inclusive, just, and sustainable, and that communities are meaningfully empowered to shape development outcomes that affect their lives.
