I am a medical doctor and research fellow with experience in emergency medicine, anesthesiology, palliative care, and trauma research. I currently serve as a Research Medical Officer with Collaborative for Emergency Care Africa (CEC Africa), where I contribute to multicenter trauma research examining patterns of injury, care delivery, treatment delays, and patient outcomes across the Western Cape.
My work combines epidemiological research, data analysis, quality improvement, and research communication to generate practical insights for clinicians, hospital leaders, and policymakers. I am particularly interested in trauma epidemiology, emergency care systems, and translating locally generated evidence into context-specific improvements in care.
Working in high-acuity and resource-constrained settings has strengthened my commitment to improving health system performance and equity. In a country with a high burden of trauma and violence, I believe better emergency care can improve not only patient outcomes but also the well-being of families, communities, and society.
